Folks travel plans are in shambles after a shocking discovery at LaGuardia Airport caused over 200 flight cancellations!
According to USA Today, a sinkhole was discovered during a routine inspection near runway 4/22 around 11 a.m., forcing immediate closure and emergency repairs.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey confirmed crews are actively investigating the cause, while the Federal Aviation Administration warns delays could worsen with incoming thunderstorms.
“Travelers should expect delays and cancellations, particularly with forecast thunderstorms expected later today,” reads an issued statement.
The runway is expected to remain closed until at least Thursday morning,but that timeline could shift.
