Yolanda Saldivar Denied Parole 30 Years After Tragic Selena Murder!

The woman responsible for the tragic murder of legendary Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla-Perez has been denied an early release from prison!

Yolanda Saldivar was convicted of murder in 1995 with the use of a deadly weapon and sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole in thirty years. According to reports from PEOPLE, her earliest parole eligibility date was set for March 30th, 2025.

“After a thorough consideration of all available information, which included any confidential interviews conducted, it was the parole panels determination to deny parole to Yolanda Saldivar and set her next parole review for March 2030,” reads a statement from the Texas Board of Pardons and Parole.

It has been indicated that Yolanda’s parole has been denied due to “the nature of the offense.”

Yolanda was convicted for murder after fatally shooting Selena while at a Days Inn motel in Corpus Christi on March 31, 1995.

According to NBC News, Selena’s family fired Yolanda in 1995 following accusations of embezzling money from the fan club and boutiques she managed.

Reports confirmed that Selena was shot in her back and that Yolanda followed her until the singer collapsed in the lobby. Obtained court documents state that before the 23 year old lost consciousness, she told motel employees who shot her.

Yolanda is said to have fled to her truck after the shooting and threatened to kill herself.

In October 1995, Yolanda was found guilty of first-degree murder and was sentenced to life with the possibility of parole.

In response to the recent parole hearing, Selena’s family issued a joint statement to Instagram.

“Today, we are grateful that the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles has chosen to deny parole for Yolanda Saldívar. While nothing can bring Selena back, this decision reaffirms that justice continues to stand for the beautiful life that was taken from us and from millions of fans around the world far too soon.”

The statement continues, “Selena’s legacy is one of love, music, and inspiration. She lived with joy, gave selflessly, and continues to uplift generations with her voice and her spirit.”

“As her family and loved ones, we remain committed to preserving her memory and ensuring that her story is honored with the dignity and respect it deserves.”

The family adds, “We thank Selena’s fans for their unwavering support throughout the years. Your love has been a source of strength and healing. We will continue to celebrate Selena’s life – not the tragedy that took her from us — and we ask that all who cherish her do the same – The Quintanilla Family and Chris Pérez.”
