Noir Nation, comedian D.L. Hughley has chimed in on the ongoing online feud between rapper Nicki Minaj and California Governor Gavin Newsom.

The feud began when Nicki criticized Newsom over his support for trans children, referencing his remarks on The Ezra Klein Show. During the interview, Newsom said, “I want to see trans kids,” in the context of defending his position against trans athletes participating in girls’ sports. He added, “I have a trans godson. There’s no governor who has signed more pro-trans legislation than I have. No one has been a stronger advocate for the L.G.B.T.Q. community.”

Nicki took to Twitter/X to respond with multiple jabs:

“Imagine being the guy running on wanting to see trans kids. Haha. Not even a trans ADULT would run on that.”

“Normal adults wake up & think they want to see HEALTHY, SAFE, HAPPY kids. Not Gav. The Gav Nots. GavOUT.”

“I think Gavvy’s still transitioning.”

Newsom fired back with a reel that included former President Trump and moments shared with disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, with Megan Thee Stallion’s song ‘Hiss’ playing in the background. Many social media users interpreted the song choice as a subtle jab at Nicki, recalling the controversial lyrics:

“These hoes don’t be mad at Megan / These hoes mad at Megan’s Law / I don’t really know what the problem is / But I guarantee , y’all don’t want me to start/ Bitch, you a pussy, never finna check me every chance you get/ Bet yo weak ass won’t address me.”

Hughley suggested that Minaj may be focusing on the wrong priorities. According to the comedian, she should address personal matters before attempting to engage in political debates.

“Nicki Minaj shouldnt post anything about kids cuz her husband can’t be within 1000 ft of one!” he wrote. “It ain’t Gavin [Newsom] it’s Chris [Hansen] she should be worried about.”

The 62 year old followed up with another video posted to TikTok, “She supports a dude that is on the Epstein list 1,000 times,” he said, in reference to President Trump and his alleged appearances on the unreleased documents pertaining to convicted child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.”
