Teyana Taylor has officially broken her silence in response to continuously circulating reports regarding her and Iman Shumpert’s divorce!
Appearing in an Instagram live video on Wednesday (March 19th) Teyana addressed online rumors accusing her of being a gold digger and ultimately cashing out a hefty divorce settlement check.
“I’ve been in this business since I was 15 years old. We’re not going to act like we’re not going to act like my bank account is like, Nah, we’re not doing that. I’ve had several Jordans, I’ve had several movies, several deals. Like, all still active.”
Teyana continued, “And the crazy part about it is I said nothing when him and his lawyer told the internet, ‘oh, Teyana’s making more money. Teyana’s bringing more money a month in than Iman’”.
“—-just because Iman played ball. This is a thing where it’s like, I’m trying to take money off of him. Iman haven’t played ball Since 2020, so, yes, actively during the divorce, I was bringing more money than than him in I am. So it’s just like, how are we sitting here making it seem like I’m being a gold digger”
According to reports from E News, Teyana has taken legal action against Iman accusing him of leaking details of their sealed case to the media. Sources state that she has requested a Georgia court to hold him in contempt.
Further in the live video Teyana addressed looming rumorsrgardong properties and businesses. The 34 year old days the court awarded her four out of her and Iman’s seven properties including two she purchased on her own.
Teyana also declared that the two left with what they paid for or gifted to one another.
Court documents obtained by the outlet read that Teyana and Iman never reached an actual settlement when they finalized their divorce nearly a year ago in July 2024.
“The parties never entered into any ‘Settlement’ at all,” her petition states, “and everything that either party received in the divorce (finalized on July 1, 2024) was awarded by the Court.”
It has been indicated that Teyana has allegedly asked the court to issue a maximum fine of $1,000 and send Iman to jail for 20 days upon claims that he leaked details of their divorce to the media after pictures of her and actor Aaron Pierre went viral on social media from Vanity Fair’s 2025 Oscar after-party.
“On March 3, 2025, Oscar night, [Taylor] posted black and white photos of herself and another actor,” reads the issued petition stated. “Not surprisingly, just days later, a huge story about a false ‘Divorce Settlement’ between the parties pops up, just in time to help promote [Shumpert]’s newly-released new rap song.”
However, Teyana said within her Instagram live that she is not trying to send Iman to jail that she instead wants peace to move on with her life.
“I never tried to send Iman to jail. I’m still not trying to send Iman to jail. However, I have to file a motion to get him to leave me alone so we can both go and live our life in peace.”
