While fans across the country gear up for this year’s Super Bowl, New Orleans native Lil Wayne has officially confirmed that he will not be in attendance!

Lil Wayne took to social media earlier this week to confirm his decision, following months of viral debates about him not being chosen as this year’s halftime show headliner. “Y’all know I’m not going to be there this week.”

“Shout out to New Orleans, but I’ve been working on something very special. I’ve got something exciting coming for you,” said Wayne.

As we previously reported Wayne took to social media a few months back following word that Kendrick Lamar was set to headline Super Bowl 59’s halftime show. In a video shared to his verified Instagram page, Wayne expressed the hurt he felt in seemingly being snubbed.

“I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for a letdown and for just automatically mentally putting myself in that position,” said Wayne in an Instagram Live stream.

“I thought there was nothing better than that spot, that stage, that platform, in my city. So it hurt, it hurt a whole lot.”

Fellow Young Money artist, Nicki Minaj also voiced her opinion regarding Wayne’s halftime snub while calling out Jay-Z in accusing him of having a hidden agenda.

“One n***a took a knee. The other n***a took the bag,” she tweeted on Monday, Sept. 9 “He gon get you ‘n*****s’ in line every fkng time. … Got everything in the world. Still spiteful & evil. Disgusting. Be happy Abeg. Go be fang happy n***a!!!!! In rap business. In women business. When you got the politicians & the police you good tho. Plus dat ugly laugh taffy alien.”

She continued, “Denying a young black man what he rightfully put into this game for no other reason but your ego,” she wrote. “Your hatred for BIRDMAN, Drake & Nicki got you punishing Lil Wayne?!?!!! LIL WAYNE!!!!!! THE GOAT ?!!!!!!! Nola what’s good?!!!!!! Eminem stood firm on having 50 Cent come out. A white man. Shit sad. House n****r tingz. But it’s GOOD FI DEM!!!!!! No loyalty? Well Then n****z will keep son’ing you!!!!”

Despite the circulated disappointment, Lil Wayne has instead gifted fans with a special announcement confirming that the Carter IV album is on the way soon.
