Cousins! The iconic 80s-90s television series A Different World is gearing up to unleash a whole new chapter within an official sequel courtesy of Netflix!
According to Deadline, the freshly vamped series is set to follow fan favorites Dwayne and Whitley’s youngest daughter as she navigates in her parent’s familiar territory.

Sources state that the production is in an early development stage at this time.
A Different World originally debuted in the late 80s on NBC with a total of six seasons and 144 episodes. The all star cast Lisa Bonet, Jasmine Guy, Kadeem Hardison, Dawnn Lewis, Darryl M. Bell, Sinbad, Charnele Brown, Cree Summer, Jada Pinkett-Smitg and Glynn Turman.
It has been revealed that casting has not yet begun for the recently announced sequel, however producers have been in conversation with original cast members and the responses have been positive.
“The love story between Jasmine Guy’s Whitley Gilbert and Kadeem Hardison’s Dwayne Wayne at the center. Dwayne, famous for his glasses that flipped up, finally put a ring on it in the Season 5 episode “Save the Best For Last,” per Deadline.
“Though Whitley was adamant she didn’t want children, she discovers she’s pregnant in “When One Door Closes,” the penultimate episode of the series, and everyone is elated. However, things get somber when Dwayne reveals he’s accepted a job in Japan where he and his wife will raise their family — a different world.”
The half-hour comedy will be written and executive produced by Felicia Pride, Debbie Allen, Mandy Summers, Tom Werner, Gina Prince- and Reggie Bythewood.
