Cousins! Nelly‘s legal team isn’t taking news of his arrest in St Louis lightly as they provide further insight into the shocking incident!
According to exclusive statements secured by Page Six, Nelly’s lawyer Scott Rosenblum says that his client was arrested at a Missouri Casino after being “targeted by an overzealous, out-of-line officer.” He states that the rapper had won a jackpot at the Hollywood Casino in St. Charles Wednesday when an officer told him they had to run a background check before giving him his money.
Nelly says that he knew that the officer’s claims were false because he had won bigger jackpots in the past and was never advised of a background check or any other issues.
It has been stated that the background check led to his arrest as a 2018 warrant popped up from a previous traffic stop for him not having insurance. However Nelly says that he had never been given notice of the warrant.
The St Louis native was arrested on the scene and escorted out of the casino. Rosenblum says that the 49-year-old was then searched without probable cause and that the officer claims to have discovered ecstasy amongst his belongings.
He says that if Nelly wasn’t famous he would’ve been notified of the warrant and sent on his way but instead, the officer decided to escalate the situation.
As we previously reported Nelly was booked for felony drug possession and a warrant for no vehicle insurance.
