Cousins! Within a recent interview, Benzino shared his honest opinion regarding R. Kelly, his hefty jail sentencing, and why he believes everyone deserves a second chance!
While speaking on the ‘We In Miami’ podcast, Benzino was asked does he believes the defamed singer deserves a second chance.
The former ‘Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta ‘ cast member said yes while explaining that he believes what Kelly did was wrong. However, he says that he doesn’t think Kelly’s life should be over.
“Everyone deserves a second chance. I know that [Elvis Presley], a lot of motherf—-s was f—g with young girls,” Benzino said.
He went on to say, “I’m not into that. Again. The legal age is 16. So does that make it right if a n—a does it?” The women in the room responded “no” while also noting that the act was “disgusting”
“But it’s legal in America. So why is R. Kelly doing all this time? Because you know why? They’re 13, 14, two years younger.” Benzino went on to say “I’m not condoning n—s f——g little girls. It’s sick. But I don’t think R Kelly should rot in jail for 30 years either.”
As the shared video clip began to trend throughout social media, Benzino’s daughter Coi Leray made it clear where she stood with him.
In a series of tweets, Coi asked folks to not associate her with him.
“I want everybody to know I want nothing to do with anything my father has going on,” she wrote on Twitter (X).
“I haven’t spoken to him in over a year and I don’t condone or respect any of them interviews he got going on. I don’t respect his decisions and I really want nothing to do with him please dont [sic] even think of me when you see him.”
She added, “Sharing the same DNA and blood DOESN’T make us FAMILY . Loyalty , boundaries , respect , teaching , guidance , love , patience , encouragement MAKES US FAMILY.”
