Texas Governor Greg Abbott shocked millions following an executive order of lifting the Covid-19 mask mandate on one of the largest states in the country where over 42,000 residents had died in results of the virus!
According to CNN Abbott made the alarming announcement Tuesday evening at a Lubbock Chamber of Commerce event declaring that businesses will be allowed to open 100% beginning March. 10th.
“Too many Texans have been sidelined from employment opportunities. Too many small business owners have struggled to pay their bills. This must end. It is now time to open Texas 100%,” states Abott.
Sources have confirmed that though Covid-19 cases and hospitalization rates have dropped in the last few weeks, health officials warn that phasing our restrictions may cause drastic and harmful consequences leading to a spike.
“Removing state mandates does not end personal responsibility and caring for your family members, friends and others in your community,” Abbott said.
“People and businesses don’t need the state telling them how to operate.”
Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo has come forward to state that she disagreed with the governor’s decision completely.
“Taking away critical public health interventions” that are working won’t make Texas communities safer or speed up the return to normalcy’s.”
“Every time public health measures have been pulled back, we’ve seen a spike in hospitalizations,” says Hidalgo.
