Cousins! Another celebrity couple has thrown the towel in y’all!
Within a joint statement shared on social media Chance The Rapper and his wife Kirsten Corley have announced their decision to move forward with a divorce after a period of separation.
“After a period of separation, the two of us have arrived at the decision to part ways. We came to this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together.”
The statement continues, “God has blessed us with two beautiful daughters who we will continue to raise together.”
“We kindly ask for privacy and respect as we navigate this transition. Thank you – Chance & Kirsten.”
According to reports from Good Morning America Chance revealed in 2018 that he proposed to Kirsten and she accepted within a post on Twitter (X) that read, “”She said yes.”
The following year Chance shared the origin story amongst his fans online of how him and Kirsten met.
“STORYTIME: So this photo was taken on the day that I first met my wife!”
“In the year 2003, my mom used to work as a real estate agent at a black owned franchise called Re/Max Exclusive Properties. One night, she took, my dad and my brother and I to one of her office parties to get better acquainted with her co-workers. I was 9 yrs old at the time so I was prolly oblivious to what was going on and had no say in how I spent my evenings, anyway,” wrote Chance. “That being said I was probably playing a gameboy in a corner or eating candy, initially unimpressed by my surroundings.”
“But THEN… out of nowhere, we were all told to make room, to spread out and make a circle for a presentation. This is where my memory comes back in a photographic manner. We were instructed to make way for an exclusive performance by DESTINY’s CHILD!!”
“16 years later it’s happening this [weekend] is the time, and the place is my wedding,” he wrote further in the post. “I’m gonna dance with my wife because this is my destiny.”
Though news of the couple’s pending divorce has shocked many, fans have shared online in recent months their speculations of the two splitting up.
Back in April 2023 Chance’s 30th birthday bash during Carnival in Jamaica began to trend on Twitter after footage surfaced of hit intimately dancing with another woman.
Though Kirsten didn’t respond to the controversial video clip, she did share a Maya Angelou quote in her Instagram story regarding the struggles of people learning to grow up.
Chance and Kirsten share two young daughters together Kensli, 7, and Marli, 4.
