Cousins! A young girl from Wisconsin has been named a hero after using strategic thinking to help save the lives of her two-year-old sister and herself during a carjacking incident!

According to the New York Post, the incident took place Sunday afternoon February 4th as Charley took a trip to a local car wash located in Oak Creek alongside her father, Adam Jorgenson, and her younger sister, Autumn. Reports read that as Adam stepped out of the vehicle to pick up a cloth before having his car washed, he was distracted by a person walking past who had stopped and asked him for directions.

In a quick glance, he was both shocked and horrified as he witnessed his vehicle occupied with his two small children speeding away.

Charley tells local news that she was frightened and instantly debated between escaping the car or staying to help protect her sister. She says that after thinking of a strategy to help them both escape she arrived at the realization that the vehicle could not operate without the car keys, which her father had in his pocket.

“That guy was trying to steal our car, I should do something,” Charley recalled to WTMJ.

“I should try to kick him or defend myself and Autumn. But then, I was like, I should stay in my seat and do nothing. Stay here, do the questions but when I realized that dad had the key, I was like, he can’t do anything without the key.”

Charley says that she didn’t confront or address the carjacker and that she waited for them to realize that the car wouldn’t travel far without the keys. The 8-year-old says once the jacker asked about the keys she informed them that the keys were with her father while suggesting the car was useless without it.

Reports read that the jacker eventually abandoned the vehicle a mile away at a local Batteries Plus Bulbs Store. After the jacker fled the scene, Charley says she obtained her father’s cellphone from the dashboard and her contacted her mother leaving an urgent voicemail with her in the background sister asking where was their father.

“Mom,” Charley screamed as she cried. “I need you! We lost Dad!”

Sources state that the police helped reunite the young girls with their parents after their mother was able to track down Adam’s cellphone location through a setting on his iPhone.

It has been indicated that Oak Creek Police have made three arrests following the tragic ordeal. The individuals have been identified as being ages 17, 20 and 21. They’ve remained in police custody and are currently facing multiple felony charges.

Officials state that they’ve noticed an exceedingly alarming trend igniting near Milwaukee, which has caused a rise in carjacking. Such instances have led to further measures being set in place to bring forth awareness for residents.
