Cousins! An arrest has been made following a tragic sexual assault incident involving a 10-year-old girl within the East Harlem area of New York City!
According to ABC News, 23-year-old Drequan Drayton-Howard of The Bronx surrendered to NYPD officials on Wednesday, January 24th.
As we previously reported Drequan initially met the victim online. On January 6th Drequan is said to have lured the child to an apartment located on Third Avenue and East 122nd Street where he raped her.
He is said to have fled the scene on foot and the young girl was taken to a nearby hospital where she was treated and released soon after.
It hasn’t been confirmed whether or not the two had met more than once in person. Police officials confirm that the young girl made a fake profile on the social media app of Bumble.
“Bumble is sickened by the allegations and is cooperating with law enforcement. Child sexual abuse is a horrific crime and has no place in society or on Bumble’s platform. We take all gender-based violence reports incredibly seriously,” reads an issued statement from Bumble.
“There is nothing more important than safety and while we cannot comment on specific facts of an ongoing investigation, we remain committed to improving our protocols and systems to improve safety and prevent harm on our products.”
NBC New York reports that the U.S. Marshals and the NYPD had been searching for Drequan , and that he walked into the precinct Wednesday morning to surrender alongside his side attorney.
Drequan has no history of prior arrests and has officially been charged with rape, sex abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.
