Cousins! Please join us in sending our deepest condolences to the family and friends of beloved R&B legend Bobby Caldwell following news of his passing this morning!
According to reports from TMZ, the 71 year old passed away Tuesday night in his New Jersey home due to a longtime battle with an unspecified illness. It has been stated that Bobby hadn’t been able to walk for the last five years as he endured painful spasms of dysfunction within his nerves and torn muscle tissue in his ankle.
Bobby is said to have had a ruptured Achilles’ tendon after undergoing a terrible reaction to antibiotics prescribed to him a few years ago back in 2017.
His wife Mary Caldwell took to his verified Twitter account this morning confirming news of his death while speaking on their final moments together. “ Bobby passed away here at home. I held him tight in my arms as he left us. I am forever heartbroken.”
The tweet continues, “Thanks to all of you for your many prayers over the years. He had been “FLOXED,” it took his health over the last 6 years and 2 months. Rest with God, my Love.”
Bobby’s legacy in music will forever be remembered for his soulful voice and songwriting abilities.
The late musician’s beloved single , “What You Won’t Do for Love,” originally released in the late 1970s still serves as one of the most sampled singles ever nearly six decades later.
The song landed a top a slot on Billboard’s top ten and helped Bobby’s self-titled debut album reach double platinum status.
