Cousins!

Alfonso Ribeiro has joined Dancing with the Stars for season 31 as Tyra Banks’ co-host, however, his new co-host may not have been all too happy about that decision!

“Tyra was basically told that she would have to co-host the show with Alfonso or not host the show at all,” sources tell RadarOnline.com

The America’s Next Top Model creator was reportedly given an ultimatum. “Tyra was basically told that she would have to co-host the show with Alfonso or not host the show at all,” OK! Magazine reports.

“Tyra tried to host the show solo, and it just didn’t work. She thought her personality and talent would be enough, but viewers didn’t agree,” the source added. “Focus groups showed they missed the chemistry of two hosts working together. Obviously, Tyra wasn’t happy about the decision, but she had no choice, if she refused, she would have been shown the door.”

Tyra and Alfonso however are no stranger to one another as they knew each other since teenagers working on The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

Despite rumors of Banks not being happy, Ribeiro on the other hand was excited to join the show and work next to her. He’s familiar with the show as he was the winner of season 19.

“Dancing with the Stars has been such an important part of my life for so many years, and I am ecstatic to officially rejoin this tight-knit family as co-host,” Ribeiro said in a statement. “Tyra and I have a longstanding friendship that I hope will resonate with all of the fans at home as we kick off this new season on Disney+.

The dynamic of the show isn’t the only thing changing. Due to low ratings, there have been budget cuts. The dancers will now earn around $1,600 per episode, instead of what they previously earned, $5,200.

Hopefully the show moving to Disney+ will bring a positive change in viewership, however it may bring a whole different show in entirety.

“With the show moving from the network to streaming, the budget has been vastly reduced. Sure, they would love to see as many familiar professional dancers return as possible but that isn’t likely to happen when the cast sees how big the pay cut is going to be,” the insider continued. “After all these years, the fans of the show know the dancers better than the ‘stars,’ but the new economics of the show makes it impossible to pay them what they have earned in the past.”

Chille it’s a lot of uncertainty in the air but cousins, did they do our good sis Trya dirty, or is Alfonso what the shows been missing?
