Gas prices are getting out of hand as they reach over $5 per gallon in various states. The major changes in pricing has led people to discover different ways to combat the high gas rates; however others managed to cheat prices altogether!

Virginia Beach police have recently arrested Norfolk residents Rashane Griffin, 24, and Devon Drumgoole, 21, for allegedly hacking a Citgo gas station and selling gas at half price during closed hours.

According to WAVY, the men used a remote device to “illegally access gas pumps” and advertised the sale via social media. Citizens paid for the discounted gas through Cash App.

Blavity reports that local police became suspicious Tuesday when large groups of people filled their cars after the gas station had already been closed.

The gas station owner said he realized fuel was missing but had no idea how it was happening since everything looked normal on his end. But police confirmed that the men had taken nearly $14,000 worth of gas from the pumps for several days.

Together they’re  being charged with grand larceny, conspiracy, and possession of burglary tools. Officials state that the drivers who purchased the gas could also face charges.

L.T. Brad Wesseler of Virginia Beach Police stated, “This is something that we’re not familiar with, and we want to basically make sure we protect the store owners so this doesn’t happen again.”

Cousins, what are y’all thoughts on this?
