Cousins!
If you haven’t already heard by now you might want to get in tune as it appears that catching Covid ain’t the only thing we have to worry about these days! 😳
The MonkeyPox is confirmed as being a rare but potentially serious virus. The first case in the U.S was discovered earlier this week in Massachusetts after a resident returned from a trip to Canada, reports Fox News.
Today the New York City Department of Health and Hygiene reported another possible case.
A patient is currently being treated at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where tests will be sent to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to determine if the results come out positive. Little is known of the unidentified traveler at this time and it has not yet been confirmed if they traveled out of the U.S recently.
Symptoms of MonkeyPox are described as a fever, headache, muscle aches, exhaustion, chills, and skin lesions. It’s said to be fairly similar to Small Pox.
“A feature that distinguishes infection with monkeypox from that of smallpox is the development of swollen lymph nodes,” confirms the CDC.
Officials haven’t yet confirmed specific health requirement or regulations individuals should take to avoid the virus.
So far 7 cases have been reported within the month of May in the United Kingdom.
