After experiencing an unexpected attack during his set in Los Angeles, comedian Dave Chapelle is speaking out to fans of the aftermath that occurred and his overall personal shock!

Appearing within a private impromptu show with a seat of 70 audience members at the Comedy Room store in Hollywood on Thursday May 5th: Dave reveals that he spoke to the man that attacked him afterwards.

According to Rolling Stone, Dave asked Isiah Lee, 23 what was the cause of the attack. Dave reveals that the young man reportedly told him that his grandmother is being forced out of her apartment in Brooklyn, New York due to gentrification and that he wanted to draw attention to her story.

Within the privately held set fellow comedian, that was not only present for the attack but that also had a viral moment of his own not too long ago joined him. Both Dave and Chris traded off jokes as they both recalled being attacked on stage.

“At least you got smacked by someone of repute,” joked Dave in regards to Will Smith slapping Chris last month at the Oscars. “I got smacked by a homeless guy with leaves in his hair.” Chris then replied, “I got smacked by the softest n***a that ever rapped.”

Dave went on to acknowledge and thank everyone that contacted him after this week’s turn of events.“A lot of people love me, it turns out,” He said.

Sources confirm that Isiah has been a series of misdemeanors, including battery, possessing a deadly weapon with intent to assault, unlawfully crossing from a spectator area onto a stage, and interfering with or delaying such an event with unlawful conduct. The top two counts carry max penalties of up to six months in county jail. 

Isiah’s brother Aaron tells the outlet that he suffers from a history of mental health issues and has been in and out of shelters within the last decade.“He does take medicine. Maybe he missed out on taking his prescription. But he’s not the type to just lash out. I don’t understand.”
