Cousins!

Since receiving a lot of criticism in recent months for its lack of diversity, the NFL is scrambling to save face. Within their latest attempts to add diversity to the league, they now require  “Mandatory Minority” hiring!

Following a discrimination lawsuit brought by coach Brian Flores, the football organization issued a “minority-based mandatory hiring policy for offensive assistant coach positions.”

According to The Jasmine Brand, “team owners recently adopted a policy agreeing to hire minorities only for the lucrative offensive assistant coach position during the 2022 season.”

Reports say within the policy the coach can be “a female or a member of an ethnic or racial minority.”

“The coach must work closely with the head coach and the offensive staff, with the goal of increasing minority participation in the pool of offensive coaches that eventually produces the most sought-after candidates for head-coaching positions.”

In February, the former Miami Dolphins head coach sued the league and three teams for discrimination. His claims against the organization were pretty shocking. In the lawsuit, allegedly, Flores was offered 100k to make his team lose. Also, Flores claims that the organization passed him up on a position for a less qualified white male counterpart.

Cousins, I guess we can say this is a good move. But I do not think it will make much of a time difference. Only time will tell.
