Tonight was truly one for the books as legendary icon Debbie Allen officially received her flowers at the 2021 Emmy Awards!
In a heartfelt speech Ms. Allen accepted this year’s Governor Award while acknowledging all the women that paved the way in the industry before her.
“I am trembling with gratitude and grace. I’m trying not to cry and be equal to the situation because it’s been many years in the making. It’s taken a lot of courage to be the only woman in the room most of the time.”
”A lot of courage and creativity and fight and faith to believe that I could keep going. And I have. And I brought a whole lot of people with me.”
The multi-talented actress, director and choreographer made history tonight making her the first Black woman ever to receive the honor within the Emmy Awards 73 year history.
