For years the Flint, Michigan water crisis has deeply impacted countless in the most extreme and devastating ways imaginable. Despite public outcries for help, government officials have continuously lacked a sense of urgency and attentiveness of offering useful assistance towards the issue at hand!
According to CBS News former Governor Rick Snyder and his administration are set to face criminal charges for their role within the water crisis.
Originating in 2014, the water crisis continues to expose majority black residents and communities to high levels of lead poisoning and Legionnaires disease.
Sources have confirmed that Snyder alongside former officials including health director Nick Lyon could possibly be charged.
Reports read that a total of 15 current and former state- city officials have been indicted in connection to the water crisis. Though some cases have been dismissed previously, a new investigation promises to pursuit concrete and sustainable charges.
“These are the first steps in the final process to securing justice for our community,” stated Flint Mayor Sheldon Neeley said of the news on Tuesday. “I commend Attorney General Dana Nessel and her team for their commitment to finding the truth and fully investigating all possible criminal activity.”
