Lance Gross Speaks On Battle Of Hiding Facial Hair For Production Of Tyler Perry’s House Of Payne Series!

Tyler Perry ‘s 2000s series House Of Payne has officially made a comeback and we’re pleased to say that all of our favorite characters from the original production returned!

From 2007 to present Lance Gross played the role of the handsome and somewhat off course character of Calvin Payne. In a recent interview Lance spoke on his excitement of the series returning and the minimal sacrifice he had to make previously when it came down to the signature look of his beard.

“It took me so long. He would not let me grow it out when we started ‘House of Payne’ back in 2007,” tells PageSix.

“ I had facial hair, but they made a decision that they wanted my character, Calvin Payne, to look younger. So I always had to shave and I hated it. I hated every moment of it.”

“It took me years to convince Tyler and the production to let me start rocking the facial hair, so I’m very happy. I think I bought it up to them so much that they finally said okay. At one point I was like, ‘Calvin is married now, he has kids, let them have facial hair,’ and they finally agreed to it.”

Thought Tyler gave in with the revamped series Lance promises to stay on point with his beard and keep it well groomed. “I just make sure it’s clean. Cleanliness is next to godliness, so I make sure it’s right. I touch it up and grow it in right.”
