An ex #Atlanta Police Officer is set to spend the next 20 years of his life behind bars for kicking a teenage male in his head while he was under arrest!
According to #Blavity ; ex cop Matthew Johns was captured on a dash cam, kicking then 15 year old Antraveious Payne in his head. Sources have indicated that Payne was pulled over for riding in a stolen car on September 16, 2016.
It has been stated that John’s pleaded guilty to the horrific incident and was then convicted upon three counts of aggravated assault, one count of aggravated assault strangulation, two counts of false statement and two counts of violation of oath by a public officer.
Reports read that Payne adhered To Johns demands during the arrest. He is shown within the captured video as laying on his stomach with his arms spread out against the pavement. Payne was unarmed and was not identified as the driver of the stolen vehicle. He cooperated completely, leaving no reason for Johns to come in physical contact with the teen. Sources have confirmed that Payne was kicked three times and suffered from what has been described as a sustained concussion, several cuts, bleeding from his mouth and bruising around his neck.
After serving as a 9 year veteran Johns was officially terminated on July 26, 2017. “Once the case was received, the judges did not recuse themselves or appoint a Senior Judge to handle the matter,” states Paul L. Howard, Jr., district attorney of Fulton County.
“Neither did they issue some arbitrary immunity order blocking the state from moving forward.”
Johns was forced to plead guilty after numerous incriminating statements were forwarded from other officers.
“The police officers involved provided dashcam video which captured the entirety of the incident. Once the officers viewed the tape, they stated their colleague and fellow officer was wrong and agreed to testify against him. The officer was fired, not placed on administrative leave by his very own police chief, his own peers.”
