A new law has been established exactly one year after the senseless death of a grandmother due to an electrical error on behalf of a power company!

According to #Blavity , July 5th marked the one year anniversary of Linda Daniels,68 death. Sources have indicated that Daniels suffered from congestive heart failure and that she was fully dependent on an electric oxygen tank to assist with her breathing. Unfortunately Daniels was forced to go without air once her electric company shut off her service due to non payment.

It has been stated that the electric company completely ignored the $500.00 payment Daniels family had forwarded the day before her death. Even though her power was restored the next day, Daniels suffered for 7 long hours before she ultimately died.

An investigation provided by PSE&G states that the entire ordeal derives from both a systematic issue and human errors.

“ Linda’s Law” was signed by Gov Phil Murphy On July 5th, 2019 which will prohibit electric companies from immediately shutting off a customers service who uses lifesaving equipment. The electric companies are now required to check on their clients health performance periodically within a semi-annual basis

“One year ago, Linda Daniels lost her life when her electricity was shut off and the oxygen mask that she desperately needed lost power,” states Newark Mayor Ras Baraka. “For seven hours, in the middle of a heat wave, she gasped for breath. A year later, a family is still mourning the loss of a 68-year-old mother and grandmother, who had much more life to give her family and community. We must continue to keep them in prayer and have trust that Linda’s death will not be in vain. Out of this tragic loss, ‘Linda’s Law’ will protect and support those that need it the most regardless of their ability to afford it.”
