TRI-STATE FREEZE ALERT: Arctic Blast Set to Slam New York, New Jersey, & Connecticut This Weekend!

Tri state area get ready a powerful Arctic air blast is making its way this weekend, bringing dangerously low temperatures, severe wind chills, and some of the coldest weather of the season!

From New York to New Jersey and Connecticut, this isn’t your average winter weather. Highs will struggle to reach the teens, while lows drop down into the single digits, not to mention wind chills making it feel even colder. 

According to NBC 5 News, New York could see lows dropping to 8° Saturday night, while New Jersey limbos between single digits and low teens. Connecticut residents will get hit the hardest, with some areas dipping to 4°.

Doctors are warning that this Arctic blast is extremely dangerous — spending just 9 minutes outside in some areas could reportedly be deadly., reports the Daily Mail.

Dr Alina Mitina, an emergency room physician at Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey, told the Daily Mail: ‘In the ER, we see many cases of hypothermia and frostbite that were entirely preventable. We frequently treat individuals who went out for “just a few minutes” without proper gear. 

‘This includes people walking their dog, going for a short walk or having their car break down. They are often dressed for a quick trip, not for prolonged exposure and are caught off guard.’ 

Officials are warning residents to bundle up, limit your time outdoors, and check on neighbors, especially the elderly and vulnerable.
