Noir Nation, the airwaves at Hot 97 are shaking things up! Legendary DJ Funkmaster Flex is stepping into the station’s morning show slot, taking over following the sudden end of Ebro in the Morning after more than a decade on air.
Flex’s new role was confirmed by Media Co., the parent company of Hot 97. He will be hosting the morning show “until further notice,” starting Monday, December 15, bringing his decades of hip-hop expertise and iconic personality to the station’s early-day lineup.
The announcement comes just days after Ebro Darden, Peter Rosenberg, and Laura Stylez confirmed that their show had reached its final chapter. “Ebro in the Morning” has been a staple for hip-hop listeners, influencing music culture and conversations shaping radio mornings for years.
Its conclusion marks the end of an era one that many fans grew up with and making it a major element of their morning commutes.
Flex, serves as a familiar voice known for breaking records, premiering exclusive tracks, and lets not forget repeatedly dropping bombs.
Following news of Flex temporarily fillig in, social media users have blasted off mixed reviews insisting that the airwaves could use a new fresh voice to assist with engagement.
“So wait. Son on hot97 24/7 365 now 😂”
“Lmao I’m definitely not tuning in“
“Lml no1 to listen to him anymore“
For Hot 97 and its listeners, this transition is bittersweet: it’s the closing of a historic chapter and an uncertain beginning of another.
