A community is heavily in mourning while searching for answers after a missing Houston University student was recently discovered deceased!
Houston 2 News reports Jade “Sage” McKissic, was last seen alive on September 11, leaving a spot on North MacGregor. From there, things get a little blurry—as her friends told authorities they saw her stop at nearby bars, leaving her phone behind, and eventually walking towards Brays Bayou near Scott and MacGregor.
The 20 year old’s disappearance was reported on September 14th—-a few days later authorities recovered her body 5 miles away from Brays Bayou..
Following an autopsy exam, the Houston Police Department has stated there have been no signs of trauma or foul play.
The news has hit the UH community hard. Students are sharing feelings of grief, shock, and fear. “It’s scary to think this could happen to anyone,” one student said. Another added, “Even if you’re careful, it can still happen. That’s the hard part.”
Jade, a junior majoring in strategic communications and advertising, lived on campus and worked at the university.
UH officials are offering counseling and support to students and staff struggling to process the loss. While the incident happened off-campus and didn’t directly threaten campus safety, the community is still feeling the impact.
