The culture is in a chokehold after Harlem native Jim Jones stepped into the ring—well, the studio—with Shannon Sharpe for a Nightcap Podcast appearance that turned into an instant viral moment.
“Were you smoking when you said you were better than Nas?” asked Shannon with the 14:55 minute mark.

🎧 “I’M MORE INFLUENTIAL THAN NAS.”
It all popped off when Jim stood ten toes down on his previous viral statement:
“Let’s get this right—I’m way more influential than Nas,” said Jim.
“Nas was nice when I was in high school,” Jim went on to acknowledging the Queens rapper’s influence on him. “Nas was dope. We appreciate him. He had a little bit of a run. But Nas always came up second to [Jay-Z] and DMX and all these other people. He never had that type of influence on us, except for his first album.”
“I used to want to dress like Nas,” Jones added. “He had one of the illest albums of all time. … I’m a real fan of Nas. But he kind of lost me after the movie Belly and shit like that.”
Naturally, that bold claim had hip-hop heads clutching their fitteds, with many jumping in to defend Nas, a lyrical heavyweight and hip-hop purist from Queensbridge.

🗣️ SHANNON SHARPE CLAPS BACK
Shannon didn’t hold back.
“This the biggest podcast you’ve EVER been on!”
he told Jim, making it clear that Nas’s legacy and cultural impact are stamped in the history books.
But Capo stood firm:
“I’m a real fan of Nas… but I would run laps around him rapping RIGHT NOW, bro.”

🧢 CAPO CLAIMS HE’S THE “ALGORITHM BENDER”
Jim clarified his statements, saying this ain’t about lyrics—it’s about relevance and influence. According to the Dipset frontman, he’s been bending the algorithm with fashion, lifestyle, lingo, and staying power that keeps him trending across generations.
“If u 40 n up arguing with me about Nas yal already lost yal fell for the bate my streams go up every time I got viral I’m teachin u older artists a lesson in marketing yal so stuck in yesterday yal mad at th way things run today tighten up,” reads a post from Jim’s Instagram along with caption.
“I said wht i said
P.s. I will rap circles around any artist from my era who ever dear step into th booth bring some money wit u cause this game ain’t free
We outside in th field take tht as u may but we working everyday
My new handle is AB and not Antonio brown more like
