A seventeen-year-old student has been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of another teen at a Texas high school track meet!

The incident occurred Wednesday (April 2nd) around 10 AM under the Memorial High School tent near the stadium bleachers, reads an arrest obtained by ABC News.

Multiple witnesses told officials that an altercation occurred between Memorial High School student Austin Metcalf and Karmelo Anthony of Memorial Frisco Centennial School as he ordered him to move from under his team’s tent.

Sources state that Karmelo responded to Austin as he reached into his bag and said, “Touch me and see what happens.”

A witness says Austin grabbed Karmelo to move him and that Karmelo allegedly pulled out a black knife and stabbed Austin.

Karmelo is said to have run away after the stabbing.

Officers state that a bloody knife was retrieved from the bleachers.

Austin was transported to a local hospital and was pronounced dead at 10:53 AM.

As we previously reported, Austin’s twin brother Hunter was also at the scene and says the two students argued going back and forth—-and that his brother stood up to push Karmelo out of the tent.

“——went back and forth and then Austin stood up and pushed the male to get him out of the tent,” reads Hunter’s statmene in an arrest report.

“I tried to whip around as fast as I could, but I didn’t see the stab,” said Hunter Metcalf to ABC affiliate WFAA. “It was really senseless. I don’t know why a person would do that to someone, just over that little argument.”

Karmelo was arrested at the scene.

He remains in police custody on a $1M bail as he’s been charged with first degree murder.

Officers state that as Karmelo was being detained he asked if Austin was gong to be okay.

“I was protecting myself,” reads an alleged statement from Karmelo.

It has been indicated that when an officer advised another responding officer that he had “the alleged suspect,” Karmelo reportedly stated, “I’m not alleged, I did it.”

While walking to the police car, Karmelo is said to have stated “He put his hands on me, I told him not to,” while crying hysterically.

Following the fatal stabbing, the track meet has been postponed to Monday (April 7) . Sources state that it will be held at a different location.
