An update has been issued following reports that a Florida jury has declared Sean Kingston and his mother guilty of multiple counts of federal wire fraud!
Sean born Kisean Anderson appeared alongside his mother Janice Turner on Friday (March 28th ) in a Fort Lauderdale courtroom.
The two faced charges of defrauding a jewelry business, a luxury bed company, a used luxury and exotic car dealership, and a luxury microLED TV company, read an arrest warrant obtained by NBC News.
Following a three-and-a-half-hour deliberation, a jury delivered a guilty verdict.
Sean has been ordered to remain under house arrest with an electric monitor while Janice was taken into federal custody until official sentencing.
He must also post a surety bond consisting of a home valued at $500,000 and an additional $200,000 in cash, reports Yahoo News.
According to a federal grand jury indictment, the mother and son duo created a system in which Kingston would use his celebrity status and online following to convince retailers to deliver luxury goods items prior to payment. Janice would then follow up with the retailers to share details, and payment would ultimately be made through fraudulent wire transfers.
The scheme is said to have to came to an end in March 2024.
Sources state that the two wiped away tears and hugged before Janice was taken into custody.
Sean is said to have shared a photo of his mother hours after the verdict of his mother with a note that read, āMy only queen forever. Love you!!!! I promise you this is not the end!ā along with heartbroken and teary-face emojis.
Sean and Janice are scheduled for sentencing on July 11th with each count carrying a maximum 20 year prison sentence.
