Quaker Oats Updates Pancake Mix Recall After FDA Issues ‘Most Serious’ Warning!

A recently issued recall concerning certain Quaker Oats pancake mixes has been updated by officials from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), warning that the category has been increased to the most serious level!

On January 14th Quaker Oats Company, a subsidiary of Pepsi Co initially announced a recall for specific boxes of Pearl Milling Company Original Pancake & Waffle Mix , previously known as the brand of Aunt Jemima. The company declared that certain boxes obtained products of, “undeclared milk,”, reports Fox Business.

As of Thursday ( February 13th) the FDA has updated the recall to Class I noting that, “situation[s] in which there is a reasonable probability that the use of, or exposure to, a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death.”

[The recall was announced] after being alerted by a retail partner,” the statement noted. “Those with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the recalled product.”

Sources state that potentially contaminated mixes were sold to retailers with the best-by date of September 12, 2025 in eleven states including: Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, Utah and Wisconsin.

The recalled mix was sold as early as November, 18th, 2024 with the listed the UPC code of 30000 65040.

No allergic reactions related to this matter have been reported to date,” reads a statement from the company. “If consumers have an allergy or sensitivity to milk, they should not consume the product and discard it immediately.”
