Jason Mitchell is lost for words after learning a man has allegedly been using his name and likeness as part of an elaborate scheme to scam women out of money, cars, and more.
Known for his roles in The Chi, Superfly, and Straight Outta Compton, Mitchell reacted online, sharing his overall disgust of how someone could use his name to scam women simply looking for love.
According to reports from WKRG News 5, a man identified as Brenton Fillers known as the “TikTok Trickster” to police is now behind bars in Alabama. Authorities say Fillers built relationships with women across multiple states using fake identities on social media and dating platforms before allegedly manipulating them for financial gain.
Spanish Fort Police Chief John Barber didn’t hold back, saying, “When I say somebody has nine lives, he has 90 lives… this guy has three decades of criminal history.”
One woman shared that she met a man on TikTok posing as Jason Mitchell and spent several days with him before he allegedly vanished with her car. Investigators later connected similar incidents, including another victim in Daphne who was reportedly scammed just days earlier.
