T.I and Tiny alongside the OMG Girlz are celebrating a major win after successfully securing a 71.5 million dollar court battle against MGA Entertainment!
According to Baller Alert, their legal win comes after a judge reversed an order to his earlier decision to reduce the proposed award.
As we previously reported MGA Entertainment was accused of copying the OMG Girlz likeness for their O.M.G Dolls. In the issued suit, MGA Entertainment is also accused of ‘cultural appropriation and outright theft.’ Court documents detail that the company named their O.M.G Dolls after the OMG Girlz and their group members Zonnique Pullins, Bahja ‘Beauty’ Rodriguez, and Breanna ‘Babydoll’ Womack.
Despite their September 2024 victory in court, U.S District Court Judge James V. Selma posed questions regarding the promised $53.6 million in punitive damages suggesting that there was a lack of evidence to justify the amount. His proposed order caused concerns as he moved to decrease the award to $17 million.
Although Judge Selna’s previous attempted to lower their award, he has now fully reinstated the jury’s decision. Shared legal documents confirm that T.I., Tiny Harris, and the OMG Girlz will receive the full amount of 71.5 million dollars. This includes $17.9 million in damages and $53.6 million in punitive damages.
