VP Kamala Harris is addressing Donald Trump’s baseless claims regarding Haitian immigrants eating pets in Springfield, Ohio!
While speaking amongst the National Association of Black Journalists in Philadelphia on Tuesday, September 17 Kamala was asked about Trump’s allegations that Haitian immigrants are eating dogs and cats. “It’s a crying shame.”
As we previously reported during their September 10th debate Trump argued that immigrants in Springfield had been eating dogs. “In Springfield they’re eating the dogs—the people that came in their eating the cats. They’re eating the pets of the people that live there.”
Trump’s claims were shut down in real time as the moderators declared that it lacked accuracy following an extensive fact check.
“I mean, my heart breaks for this community,” said Kamala as she reflected on the children of Springfield who have been living in constant fear following a series of bomb threats.
She went on to express that Trump should be mindful of the impact and influence of his words when he speaks as it has the potential to deeply affect everyday citizens’ lives.
“I said it not very far from here the other day at the debate,” said Kamala as she expressed how Trump seemingly uses old tactics to gain a reaction from his supporters.
“This is not new. This is not new in terms of these tropes. This is not new in terms of where it’s coming from. And whether it is refusing to rent to people, rent to Black families, whether it is taking out a full-page ad in the New York Times against five innocent Black and Latino teenagers, the Central Park Five, calling for their execution, whether it is referring to the first Black president of the United States with a lie, birther lies.”
