A ten-year-old girl from The Bronx area of New York has sadly passed away from cardiac arrest after falling out the window of an apartment window!
According to ABC News, the tragic incident occurred on Friday, September 13th around 5 PM at an apartment complex located on Southern Blvd and East 182nd Street.
Police officials have stated that the young girl is believed to have fallen, for reasons that are currently unknown. Sources state that the ten-year-old fell either from the family’s fourth-floor apartment or from the roof of the building and landed on a rubber-based surface within the courtyard area.
The young girl’s mother told arriving officers that her older daughter went looking for the ten-year-old and discovered her lying in the courtyard of their building.
She says they immediately went downstairs to check on her to see if she was alive.
The young girl is said to have climbed over a fence after the fall to reunite with her family. It has been indicated that there were no visible injuries following the incident only swollen ankle.
Police say that around 7:40 PM the family noticed that the young girl was undergoing great difficulties trying to breathe. As time progressed they then decided to take her to a local hospital. Sadly, she died from cardiac arrest at St Barnabas.
“It’s heartbreaking,” said a neighbor of the family, Antoinette Talamone. “This could have been prevented, this could have been prevented and I’m sad, I’m very disappointed.”
Investigators are currently looking into the 10-year-old’s family for further details as to what led to the fatal incident. It has been stated that the family has no history of child abuse.
