Cousins! Perdue Foods has recently issued an immediate recall on 167,171 pounds of their signature frozen chicken products. This comes after a customer reportedly discovered a metal wiring in some of their packaging!
CBS News reports that the issued recalls affect a wide range of Perdue’s ready-to-eat chicken. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), the affected products include nuggets and chicken tenders.
Sources state that multiple customers have issued complaints of finding “metal wire embedded in their chicken,” which ultimately led to Perdue taking immediate action.
Perdue’s Senior Vice President of Food Safety and Quality Jeff Shaw, confirmed that the metal was a thin strand unintentionally introduced during manufacturing.
Reports read that the products involved in the wide-range recall were produced in March of this year.
Perdue Inc. advises anyone who has purchased: 22-oz. packages of Perdue Simply Smart Organics Breaded Chicken Breast Nuggets, 29-oz. packages of Perdue Chicken Breast Tenders, or 22-oz. packages of Butcherbox Organic Chicken Breast Nuggets with the best used-by date of March 23, 2025 to avoid eating it or return the item to their grocer.
The recalled items can be identified by checking for the establishment number “P-33944” on the back of its packaging.
Perdue is offering full refunds to impacted consumers, who it said can call the company at 866-866-3703.
Thankfully there has been no confirmed reports regarding injuries or adverse reactions related to the contamination. However the FSIS has remains concern that the products could still be in customer’s freezers at home.
