Cousins! The family of a Louisiana registered nurse is heavily mourning their loved one following his tragic murder at the hands of an ex-boyfriend!
Carlos Collins, 25 is said to have directly contacted authorities at a police station in Jackson, Mississippi numerous times pleading for assistance in the last few months for a stalker situation involving his ex-boyfriend Marcus Johnson. His sister Alisha Hudson tells PEOPLE that though Carlos was able to retrieve a restraining order against him since Marcus was a former police officer he continued to stalk him without consequences.
“In my brother’s last months, he was living in hell dealing with Marcus,” said Alisha. “The Jackson Police Department mishandled his case and downplayed the situation. They didn’t care to protect my brother. They protected Marcus.”
According to circulating reports, local officials had responded to a violent crime scene at Carlos’ apartment on Tuesday April 9th. Sadly, his lifeless body was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds and a hit with authorities have described as a “blunt object.”
Carlos’ family has confirmed on social media that Marcus had used a firearm and an axe to attack him.
On April 10th, following a high-speed car chase across state lines within Monroe, Louisiana Marcus was arrested on charges of murder and shooting in an occupied dwelling in connection to Carlos’ death.

Alisha says that Carlos and Marcus had dated for a year and broke up towards the end of 2023.
She says that months after their breakup Carlos had discovered air tags and trackers on his vehicle including one of his friend’s. Carlos also told her that a ring camera had been installed within a vacant apartment nearby to watch him. Alisha tells officials that Carlos had once been awoken by Marcus watching him sleep.
As the stalker situation worsened, Carlos requested multiple times for his locks to be changed and even contacted his family’s pastor about taking self-defense classes.
Alisha shared a conversation she had with her brother prior to his passing on April 6th as he was set to be honorored for his work at the hospital. She recalled him saying that Marcus was obsessed and that he showed her footage of Marcus pacing back and forth outside of his apartment.
“It was obsession, fatal attraction,” said Alisha about Marcus. “He didn’t want anyone else to be with my brother.”
She says on the same night Carlos was honored they had attended a dinner outing together for a family member’s birthday but it was disrupted as they saw Marcus seated directly behind them.
Marcus had been employed with the Jackson force nearly ten years ago for roughly eight months. A press release determines that he was placed on leave for “pending disciplinary actions” and that he has ultimately resigned before he was fired.
In 2014 Marcus was arrested and charged for two counts of falsely impersonating an officer at an apartment located near Jackson state university and grand larceny.
Officials state that Marcus had wrote a false citation to a female student, and allegedly attempted to “hook up” with her in exchange for dismissing a ticket.
He is said to have used an old ticket book and stolen police radio from his former department to make false arrests.
Some of the charges were dismissed in court and Marcus was placed in a pre trial diversion program for other charges.
The 33 year old is currently in custody at the Richland Parish Detention Center in Rayville, La., pending extradition to Jackson.
Authorities have declined any further comments regarding a restraining order reports PEOPLE.
