Def Jam’s First Female Rapper, Bo$$ has Passed Away At 55 Years Old!

Cousins! The Hip Hop community is currently mourning the major loss of Detroit legendary femcee Boss following reports of her recent passing!

News of Bo$$ born Lichelle Marie Laws, passing was shared on social media by fellow rapper Bun B as he paid tribute to her long-standing career in music.

“Rest in peace to my big sis Lichelle Laws AKA Boss. One of the best female MCs and a dear friend,” he wrote. “Give Rick Royal a hug for me. Long Live The Org!”

Fellow rappers 9th Wonder, Chuck D, Jermaine Dupri, Mia X, Jadakiss, The D.O.C., DJ Premier and Slim Thug also paid tribute to the 55 year old.

“Damn! R.I.P. BO$$. Condolences to your family…SALUTE DETROIT! We did a dope “Deeper Rmx” @defjam never released.
Back in 1993 she came to D & D and recut her vocals to my beat. It was so RAW,” wrote DJ Premier.

According to reports from Hip Hop Dx, Bo$$ passed away on Monday March 11th. Details regarding her death have not been shared at this time. However back in 2017 she is said to have suffered from a major stroke and seizure.

A GoFundMe campaign was later launched on her behalf in 2021 by her family to cover medical bills as she was in need of a kidney transplant.
