Cousins! Grammy award-nominated songstress Halle Bailey has expressed the importance of keeping her professional and personal life separate in hopes of protecting her son!
While speaking at Essence’s Black Women in Hollywood Awards in Los Angeles on Thursday, Halle Bailey spoke on her pregnancy journey and her decision to keep one of the most sacred moments of her life under wraps.
“There was no way in hell I was going to share the biggest joy of my world with anyone,” said the 23 year old.
Halle adds that her son Halo is her gift,” he is the greatest blessing and I had no obligation to expose him, me or my family to that unyielding spotlight.”
As we previously reported the Halle and her boyfriend DDG announced the birth of their baby on Instagram earlier this year back in January.
“Even though we’re a few days into the new year, the greatest thing that 2023 could have done for me, was bring me my son.. welcome to the world my halo 🥰👼🏽 ,” wrote Halle, “the world is desperate to know you 😉🤣♥️.”
Prior to their announcement, Halle and DDG denied rumors that they had been expecting a child together.
“This is one of my biggest accomplishments and I wasn’t able to show it for real for real but it was for a better cause ’cause people weird,” said DDG of their decision to hide Halle’s pregnancy.
“People are way too much in my business, our business, at this point in time. So, definitely for the better and it made it a lot easier, bringing him into the world without a bunch of opinions.”
According to the Hollywood Reporter Danielle Brooks, Kathryn Busby, and Nkechi Okoro Carroll were also honored at the star-studded ceremony hosted by Cliff “Method Man” Smith at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles.
