Cousins, beloved actress Sanaa Lathan is about to turn heads once again in a new project as she takes on the starring role in the upcoming series dedicated to the legendary psychic friend Miss Cleo!
According to Deadline, Sanaa will play the late 90s and early 2000s icon Miss Cleo also known as Youree Dell Harris in a drama comedy series surrounding the actress and self-proclaimed psychic.
Miss Cleo is known for her legendary signature commercials back in the day as she made folks believe that she could help change their lives with one single phone call. Through the Psychic Readers Network, Miss Cleo would utilize her growing popularity to provide callers readings in regard to their everyday issues.
The highly anticipated series is described as a “darkly comedic drama” centered around Youree’s life.
Youree’s rise to fame came tumbling down in 2002 after the Psychic Readers Network was hit with a lawsuit for deceptive advertising, billing and collection practices, reports Deadline.
Sources state that though Youree was never indicted on any charges she did agree to pay a &5 million dollar fine. She was also held responsible for her victim’s debt totaling $500 million dollars—-which was later expunged.
Youree passed away in 2016.
The upcoming project is currently being shopped around to various networks and streaming services at this time.
