In honor of academy award winning actress #ViolaDavis 55th birthday she celebrated another year of life within an ultimate way as she announced that she’s the official owner of her childhood home and former plantation within Saint Matthews, South Carolina.
Viola took to her personal Instagram on Tuesday afternoon with a picture of the house along with a caption that read, “The above is the house where I was born August 11, 1965. It is the birthplace of my story,” the caption read. “Today on my 55th year of life….I own it….all of it.”
Viola has often included in interviews and award speeches her life’s story from her background of growing up poor and the struggle her family endured. She speaks life into her past while noting that her younger years made her who she is today.
Viola went on to clarify that she doesn’t own the property, but she owns the power of her own story.
“Uhh….contrary to websites….I do not ‘own’ above house,” Davis wrote in reference to the photo. “I ‘own’ my STORY!! Too abstract I guess.”
