Cousins! A part of her highly anticipated Renaissance film Beyonce reflects on sharing the spotlight with her eldest daughter Blue Ivy and how she turned her lemons into lemonade!

Though Blue became an instant fan favorite each and every time she hit the stage, Beyoncé reveals that she originally told the 11-year-old no when she asked to perform. “She told me she was ready to perform, and I told her no,” Beyoncé says in the film, according to a New York Times review.

Beyoncé explained that after Blue’s debut performance in Paris, she caught wind of negative comments online. In response Blue used the haters as motivators and worked even harder for further tour stops instead of being discouraged and quitting.

The 42 year old shares that though she was hurt by Blue discovering negative comments made in connection to her initial performance, she’s proud that her daughter decided on her own to keep at it.

According to Vulture news , clips of Blue’s progress were shared throughout the film as she was determined to own her craft.

As we previously reported, Jay-Z shared in an interview with Gayle King how proud he is of Blue’s determination. “And Blue, what makes me super proud and I still get goosebumps seeing her walk onstage, is ’cause Blue’s been born into this world. She’s been born into a life she didn’t ask for.”

Jay continued, “She came up and sees 80,000 people. She’s 11 so she’s nervous. I know her, so I know how nervous she was, and I know how frightened she was.”
