Cousins! Chris Brown has issued an official apology to beloved R&B Pianist Robert Glasper after he seemingly acted out in response to losing ‘Best R&B album’ at this year’s Grammy awards!
The father of three shared a DM he sent to Robert from his verified Instagram account.
“Congratulations my brother… I would like to apologize if you took offense to my reaction at the Grammys. You were not the intended target and I know I came off really rude and mean.”
Chris continued, “After doing my research I actually think you’re amazing… the organization isn’t doing us Blacks our due diligence. You and I should never be in the same category… two totally different vibes and genres. So from one Black man to another, congratulations. Hope you are able to feed your family for life. God bless my G.”
Prior to the forwarded apology ,when it was announced that Robert had won over him within the category Chris took to his Instagram story and wrote,” “Y’all playing. Who da f**k is this? Ima keep kicking y’all ass! Respectfully.”
According to CNN, Robert seemingly responded, “It’s been brought to my attention that y’all have questions about Who TF is Robert Glasper! If y’all have questions, I have answers. Check out my stories to play along!”
Chris’ outburst was met with mixed reviews from social media users as folks believed he was being a sore loser. “ Chris Brown not knowing who Robert Glasper is… is the reason all of Chris Brown songs sound the same,” read a tweet.
“ The funniest thing about Chris Brown’s Grammy meltdown is also the saddest: Robert Glasper is an icon and this is an award voted on by your peers. You can dislike the outcome but posting about not knowing who he is only embarrasses you as an artist,” wrote a user .
Robert has been recognized as a five time Grammy winner recipient. He is also set to play at this year’s Coachella to perform with his supergroup Dinner Party.
Cousins, what are y’all thoughts on Chris response to his Grammy loss?
