Cousins! An unexpected altercation involving a gunman and a Detroit resident after he held an elevator door open for a group of women has resulted in local officials currently searching for answers as the incident turned fatal!
The tragic November 27th incident was caught on a building surveillance camera at the International Banquet Center in Greektown as Ariel Harris was seen being fatally shot by another male, reports Fox news. It has been stated that the father of two had held open an elevator door in efforts of allowing a group of women to board before him.
“On the video, [the gunman] steps back out of the elevator to see what he did and then got back on the elevator and went about his business like he hadn’t done anything at all,” said Ariel’s mother Rosalind Harris. “Like, you have no conscience; you don’t have a heart.”
Rosalind share’s that both her daughter in law and Ariel’s younger brother were present at the time of the incident as they were the ones to contact her. “They were panicking and in shock, and she just kept screaming, ‘And he’s been shot. He’s been shot,’” she recalled.
Following the shooting Ariel was transported to Detroit Receiving Hospital where he was sadly pronounced dead. Officials state that after further review of the obtained surveillance footage Ariel had exchanged words with identified gunman Gayelon Spencer.
“Mother to mother, I know you’ve seen your son’s face on the news, on social media. Please have your son turn himself in,” says Rosalind.
In a shared Facebook post Rosalind speaks of how her emotional and physical health have been impaired following her son’s death. “I’m in so much pain, y’all, my back [and] neck [are] killing me. Y’all, this coward has taken my son away from his [two] sons, brothers, sisters, grandma, [two] baby mamas, father, [and] a host of family [and] friends. This is just not real, y’all. My son didn’t deserve to go this way.”

Detroit police were able to identify Gayelon through captured footage, unfortunately he is still at large and hasn’t yet been arrested. Cousins, officials advise anyone with information on Gayelon’s whereabouts to contact the Detroit Police Department’s homicide investigators at 313-596-2260 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
