Cousins! An investigation pertaining to a 2021 incident involving a Texas teacher and two assistants with direct neglect of a 5 year old student has led to a series of arrests!
According to the New York Post, a special needs student had been placed in an isolation room at Liberty Independent School District facility for a long period of time to the point that he had began to consume his own feces and drink his urine.
The young boy’s teacher Melody LaPointe, 47 and her assistants Tarah Tinney, 33 and Augusta Costlow, 27 were arrested last month. They have all been charged with abandoning or endangering a child.

Reports read that while isolated the young boy had also fell and obtained an injury, with the staff ultimately failing to help him.
Prior to the staff members official arrests, an investigation was conducted by the school district. In conclusion to their findings the district is said to have contacted child services and provided full details of the incident.
“We removed the educators, who continued to work for us, from the classroom, and conducted a comprehensive investigation,” reads a forwarded statement.
“Based upon our investigation, we reported the educators to the State Board for Educator Certification and shared our results with law enforcement officials. “

The statement continues, “uponcompletion of the investigation back in 2021, none of the individuals continued in our employment from that time forward. Liberty ISD is continuing to work with the Liberty County District Attorney’s office for the benefit of our children.”
All three women have been booked into Liberty County Jail with a bond set at $60,000 each.
