The 2022 VMA’s kicked off last night live from the Prudential center in New Jersey. Hosted by the talented trio of  LL Cool J, Nicki Minaj, and Jack Harlow, thousands of fans and industry elites came together to celebrate some of the biggest names in music!

Artists such as Kendrick Lamar, Lil Nas X, and Jack Harlow led VMA nominees with seven nominations each. Big names such as Chloe Bailey, Nicki Minaj, Lizzo, Lil Nas X, DJ Khalid and more, were also in attendance.

Jack Harlow started off the evening’s festivities with a lit performance of “First Class” joined by Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie, who finished up the chart-topping single, which samples her 2006 single “Glamorous”.

From there, ⅓ of the host of the night LL COOL J took the stage and introduced the first presenters, Offset and DJ Khaled, The two rap powerhouses handed the award out for Best Collaboration, which went to Lil Nas X and Harlow for “Industry Baby.”

Nicki Minaj, received the Video Vanguard Award, and also set the stage a flame as she performed “Super Freaky Girl” along with other classics like “Super Bass” “Romans Revenge” and “Moment For Life.”

During Nicki’s speech, she thanked those who inspired her “flow,” including artists such as Foxy Brown, Lauryn Hill, Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh, and of course her fav Lil Wayne. She also shouted out several artists who’ve supported her along the way —everyone from Kanye West, Beyoncé, Eminem, Drake, Rihanna and Britney Spears.

Later on in the evening, Eminem and Snoop Dogg joined on stage together with a huge joint and for a metaverse performance of “From The D 2 the LBC.“

Lizzo also hit the stage, and had an assortment of different, brightly colored shapes appearing on a screen behind her onstage. She performed her entire set alone performing her hit singles, “About Damn Time” and “2 Be Loved.” She also took home the “Video For Good ” where in her acceptance speech she seemingly responded to Comedian Aries Spears. “…Now, to the b*tches that got something to say about me in the press … I’m not gonna say nothing! People always ask ‘Why don’t you clap back?’ Because b*tch, I’m winning! Big B*tches winning!”

She shared the clip on Twitter later that evening, writing in the caption, “KEEP MY NAME IN YO MOUF CUS I KNOW IT TASTE GOOD B*TCH.”
