Earlier today a Georgia prosecutor officially announced that the two Atlanta policemen responsible for the senseless 2020 killing of Rayshard Brooks have had a series of murder and assault charges dropped!

According to reports from CNN it has been indicated that officials believe the officers’ use of force was reasonable and that they did not act with criminal intent.⁠

“Both acted as reasonable officers would under the facts and circumstances of the events of that night,” said special prosecutor Peter Skandalakis. “Both acted in accordance with well-established law and were justified in the use of force regarding the situation.”⁠

As we previously reported the then 27-year-old male had been shot and killed outside a Wendy’s restaurant after he allegedly fought the two officers who attempted to arrest him for DUI.

The two officers claim that during the interaction, Brooks allegedly overpowered them as he then took a Taser from Brosnan and ran away. Prosecutors state while running, he turned his back and pointed the stolen Taser at officer Rolfe, who then shot Brooks twice, within both the back and buttocks. Ultimately killing him.

Both officers remain employed by the Atlanta police.
