Now we have all tried and heard of some weird things in our lifetime, but a new Summer trend may take the cake as a Canadian ketchup brand has come up with an unusual spin on a popular summer treat: popsicles, but Ketchup-flavored!

On June 20, the condiment company announced the limited-edition snack to cool you down on those hot summer days.

“French’s Ketchup will debut the ‘Frenchsicle,’ its new limited-edition ketchup-flavoured popsicle, to celebrate the first week of summer,” French’s said in a press release. The “Frenchsicle,” a unique offering from French’s Ketchup, is available in select pop-up locations until Thursday, according to a news release from French’s.

The popsicle was created in collaboration with Happy Pops, a Canadian ice pops brand focused on natural, gluten-free ingredients. The tomato flavor of the popsicles are 100 percent Canadian tomatoes, says the news release.

“I love creating innovative treats that appeal to Canada’s diverse tastes,” said Happy Pops founder Leila Keshavjee in the release. “I started Happy Pops to bring all-natural, handcrafted flavour to Canadians, so French’s locally-grown ketchup is a perfect pairing.”

She continues,“I can’t wait for people to try this condiment-turned-popsicle.”

For those who want to try out the strange summer treat for free, they can visit French’s locations in Vancouver, Toronto, and Leamington in Canada. This collab is also helping towards an important cause. “For every Frenchsicle given away, French’s will donate two meals to Food Banks Canada to address food insecurity in Canada,” says the release.

French’s is not new to turning condiments into cool refreshments. In 2019, the brand partnered with Los-Angeles based ice cream brand Coolhaus to create a mustard-flavored ice cream in celebration of National Mustard Day.

Though the free “Frenchsicles” were only available at pop-up locations in Canada served by Happy Pops until June 30th, French’s provides a DIY recipe on its website. The ingredients include tomato juice, ketchup and Frank’s RedHot sauce (with an optional spice and sugar mix)

Cousins, are you going to try this unique snack at home?
