Burger King AD Agency Issues An Apology After ‘Pride Whopper’ Sparks Backlash!

An AD agency for Burger King in Austria is currently issuing major apologies after receiving a hefty amount of backlash for their ‘Pride Whopper’ sandwiches!

The sandwiches made its official debut earlier this month which featured two matching top buns and two matching bottom buns.

According to the Business Insider , social media users called the fast food chain out on claims of issuing a ‘tone deaf,’ marketing campaign in honor of Pride month.


Photographs of the campaign were released on June. 1st via Instagram with an intended nod to the LGBTQIA+ community however the AD was met with a cluster of mixed reviews.

On Sunday, German agency worker Jung von Matt Donau took to LinkedIn within a post to admit that they, “didn’t check well enough with community members on different interpretations of the Pride Whopper.”

The post continues, “The intended message of the Pride Whopper was to spread equal love and equal rights,” the post reads.” Our strongest concern is if we offended members of the LGBTQ Community with this campaign.”

“If this is the case, we truly apologize. We’ve learned our lessons and will include experts on communicating with the LGBTQ community for future work as promoting equal love and equal rights will still be a priority for us.”
