It appeared that the attorneys for Los Angeles County asked the judge to order Vanessa Bryant to produce all therapy records dating back to 2010, within a lawsuit over leaked photos that exposed the tragic crash site of Kobe Bryant!
According to NBC News, in court documents, the Los Angeles County felt it was necessary for the defense against the lawsuit; Vanessa filed last year. The widow of the NBA legend alleges that county employees “showed off” photos of the crash that killed her husband, her 13-year-old daughter, and many others on Jan 26, 2020.
The county motion inquires, “all documents relating to or reflecting counseling, therapy, psychotherapy, psychiatry or any other mental health treatment provided to Vanessa Bryant from Jan 1, 2010, to the present.”
“The county continues to have nothing but the deepest sympathy for the enormous grief Mrs. Bryant suffered as a result of the tragic helicopter accident,” county attorney Skip Miller said in a written statement. “Our motion for access to her medical records, however, is a standard request in lawsuits where a plaintiff demands millions of dollars for claims of emotional distress. I have an obligation to take this step to defend the County.”
Within the lawsuit, Bryant claims invasion of privacy and that she experienced “severe emotional distress” due to the leaked photos of losing her husband and their daughter Gianna. In a deposition, Bryant says, “Nothing compares. Nothing’s close to this. I lost my husband and child. That was the worst thing imaginable.”
Earlier this month, a judge ruled that Bryant is not required to undergo a psychiatric evaluation as part of her lawsuit.
However earlier this week a judge has order for Vanessa to submit four years of therapy records within the lawsuit.
According to People Magazine, a motion by the county was granted on Monday, requiring Vanessa and her therapist to submit documents spanning from Jan. 1, 2017, to the present.
I do not understand why they are making it extremely difficult for her despite what she went through. It is not making sense. But I am rooting for her.
