The Bay Area is one of the most diverse cities in the country. With so many cultures and races, it’s like a multitude of countries combined into one.
However over the last two years, with the increasing race intentions and the lack of ignorance. There is no surprise that a student wore a KKK costume at a Pittsburg High School in Contra Costa County.
According to ABC7 News, the student wore the costume reportedly on a dare and through four periods of school before officials took action. Last Wednesday, the high school had a costume contest, where the student was photographed wearing a white sheet and a pointed white hat, emblematic of the uniform of the Ku Klux Klan.
The student wore the costume on-and-off before the clothing was confiscated. Reportedly, the student has been disciplined and will face the school’s “restorative justice” process, according to Principal Todd Whitmire.
Parents and students are still upset over the incident.
“I was surprised, like how the principal or none of the security agents didn’t stop him or anything like that,” said Manuel Gutierrez who goes to Pittsburg High.
Sources have confirmed that despite the disrupted student given “assigned consequences,” he will participate in the school’s restorative justice process to learn how his actions have impacted and harmed others–
Yet, many others believe he should face harsher consequences, this is not something to tread lightly.
“He should be expelled!” says student Robert Williams.
Well, let’s hope this student learns his lesson and never does anything stupid like this ever again.
